lab book

mm... moleskine notebooks kind of intimidate me with their platitutdes about how every blank page is another opportunity for brilliant genius to unfold or whatever. i tried anyway. i have to wear a lab coat as uniform at my restaurant job so i drew myself in it on a piece of tape. its a good symbol for this notebook anyway because i spent more time going back over stuff than usual.

ryan in a band. i bought this notebook on the way to see their debut performance but i mostly watched the music and danced and hardly drew at all.

the lady next to me asked if we knew each other and i grinned to imagine two strangers drawing each other across the Q. but we know each other well.

this guys girlfriend sat next to me taking a video of his whole act but i don't think she noticed me drawing her sweetheart.

then viv and i left the open mic to chat at the cafe and ended up having an awesome conversation with two strangers on a date next to us...caroline and something

while making this drawing i was frustrated at my inability to capture their specificities and the reality of the space. but the echo here is still sigh something.

hanging out with zoe who i met at the roof show. she showed me a good restuarant and wore a shirt with a dragonfly on it.

i never finished this comic. work is so boring i don't want to deal with it in my spare hours. these pencils are also way worse than normal cuz i just couldn't focus in.

halloween! my work didn't have candy because its against our brand image so i improvised and it was the best fun.

i saw this show bc i had a conversation with ben at the roof show last month and followed their band's page. i like when one thing leads to another that way.

rare solo show--georgie usually plays with her girlfriend apparently. this was my first time seeing anything and it was cool.

it was one of those train rides where i just wanted to be home but drawing anchored me in a good way. very good.

i found this tree impossible to draw but it kind of looks like a person dancing

drawing by a guy on acid at the music inn open mic. he kept saying he was blessing me with this drawing which i found to be a fairly unbecoming attitude. later he asked me for my number and i said ahh mm nooo but you can have my website link and he turned it down which is a shame cuz now he'll never see his drawing again.

i took so many notes because the comic was simply blossoming into life in front of me
